Hey guys,

This morning I got my hands on the cases with in there... Modern Warfare 2. I since then learned that the whole game actually runs through steam... that's oke with me as we have Steam Cyber Cafe accounts...

The only thing is that I cannot activate the game on our cafe steam accounts...
(After starting the setup.exe it wants me to log in and then gives me the message that I cannot register any new game with the Steam Cyber Cafe account...)

Has any of you have had better luck?

(1 thing I thought was that we maybe had to buy the game through Steam... but Steam cafe accounts cannot buy anything also...)

You need to call the business company who is controlling your cyber steam cafe accounts, in the most @ denmark its Boomtown,
they can tell you what to do.
but what we did was buying 20 call of duty modern warefare 2 games,
made 20 new steamaccounts (like: yourcafe001, yourcafe002), and then manually activated the CD'keys to each one of the 20 accounts !,
the problem is that steam haven't created a method to get call of duty mw 2 licenses with Cyber Steam Cafe Accounts yet.

I have the same problem.

I understand that i need to create sepparate steam accounts, but where is the game installed, on the client pc's or the server ?

If I install the game on the pc's will it only be possible to play the game on these pc's ?

I have 25 pc's and only 6 Modern Warefare 2, licenses.

Or do I have to create 25 new steam accounts and install these 6 on all if it is possible that way.

I dont know, help me please.

you only need 6 accounts and have sl manage their usernames and passwords as licences through the built in licence management...

let me just add to that. The game needs to be "installed" on all 25 machines. When I say installed like that you can ofc also just copy the gcf/ncf's from the steamapps folder, and the game dir from common folder once you have it installed and updated on 1 machine. Do run the game before freezing again if you have some freezing software, as there are some processes it will install on first run on the other machines.

i spent hours pulling my hair out over this and then i realized its actually quite simple. i have 8 pcs in the cafe up and running perfectly with mw2
so what you have to do is (even if you have cafe accounts with steam) create however many mw2 licenses you have cafe accounts (standard accounts)
then once you have these accounts made go into them and add mw2 to the games library by clicking the little plus down on the bottom left hand corner of the games library, install as normal and now mw2 is ready to go.

now here comes the interesting part, go to your smartlaunch server and create another steam license section (yes there will be 2 license sections called steam but its what you have to do)
and add all of the new mw2 accounts to this second steam section, once thats done set up mw2 to launch using those licences and not the cafe accounts.

with any luck this will work for you first time round if not keep trying because it is possible.

another problem i ran into with steam was that is does not support lan so you have to pretty much make all the accounts friends so players can add other players to the party, the problem was that all of the accounts would not find each other on the same network so i had to log into the accounts from home (different network) and add all of the accounts to eachothers friends list from there. once that was done the accounts recognized eachother on the network.

if you have any more questions about this feel free to ask

just to add to that

no you dont have to make 25 new accounts just 6 and go around to all of your computers with one steam account and install mw2 using that account. (or alternatively image them, whatever your procces)

then what happens as long as a license is available it will just pick the available account up from the server an log in with that. hope that made sense

Two questions for everyone I guess.

1. Create a new Steam account for each license (for every game) that requires steam?

2. Then go to License Management -> Create a new license setup -> preset 'Steam' -> add steam account info. Do I create a new 'Steam' license setup for each game or add all game licenses (from several different games) under just one 'Steam' entry?
