| | hi guys. i just want to know if there is anyone here who have this kind of setup. one pc or machine where all the games and applications are installed. coz when iam installing new games, it takes a lot of time, imaging the game and everything to each pc. i have 50 units and i takes me a lot time to install it. mybe installing it to a server and mapping the drive or folder might help? i just wondering what are the limitations? speed? lag? how many pc can it serve running the same application at the same time. |

| y, many of us have some kind of the setup you describe...
it depends on the hardware...
for ex, my main file server is a moderate intel c2d with 4gb ram and 8x640gb @ raid50 @ promise ex8650 (and 3x1tb@raid0) and an intel dual gigabit nic for added bandwidth... it servers 30 clients with no problems, either transfering games on demant or playing them from there...

| Voudas has posted some statistical data at our forum here http://forum.gizmopowered.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=39
Genneraly what you need is a fast raid subsystem and storage depending on your needs. Mapping drive might be a good solution in some cases but with the most new games that do a lot of data reading it might be a little slow.
Drive ghosting is really hard task and especialy now with updates coming out daily. Anyhow we going to put an end to this very soon when we release the Gizmo. You will be able to sync any folder on a client machines with any folder on server just with few clicks. And the best is that only difference will be transfered and you will be able to sync not only by file differences (size,md5,date modifed etc) but rather by block of data differences in files just like with Rsync.
