| | http://community.dawnofwar2.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=12816&p=253386#p253386 I posted about this a week ago and no one has replied despite a very active board. I guess no one plays LANs anymore... It's also worth mentioning that if this Steam trend continues, SL will be forced to figure something out about saved games for single player. For whatever reason, Steam saw fit to create a saves folder that's linked to the specific steam account, making puf's impossible with the current Smartlaunch software. We have 3 keys and unless you're lucky enough to be assigned the same steam account you saved your game with, dow2 simply creates yet another folder in your save game directory.

| Hello
We have this game in our cafe and is working fine.
About PUF its windows live dependent so you need one PUF for windows live linked account and one PUF for savefile.
As for LAN disable any firewall from your clients and check your switch(es) . Also you need to know that the clients have to be in the same subnet.
And finally you dont need steam !!!
Just create some Windows live accounts with an original cdkey assigned and you will have no problem.

| | Sorry, I confused my games as far as the PUF's are concerned. F.E.A.R.2 creates screwy folders that I'm trying to fix with an intelligent batch file. DOW2 puf's work fine by default. Our network is certainly not the issue given that every other game under the sun works fine on LAN. We do not use any kind of firewall and it's only LAN we're trying to get working anyway. And can you explain why you don't need steam for this game? How do I launch it independently of steam? Or do you mean offline mode?

| F.E.A.R 2 : Project origin PUF is easy to catch it.
C:\Documents and Settings\*USER*\My Documents\WBGames\FEAR2\ (this is for windows XP only . Vista has different path)As for DAW2 without steam there are plenty of steam-free launchers on google.
And you can play online without any problem because the keys are managed through Windows Live . Steam is just to give you the game.

| | Fear 2 creates a folder within the directory named something like "7868684352" - that number is linked to the steam account that the game was launched with. Perhaps using one of these launchers you're talking about gets around that... I'll look for these launchers

| Thats because you have Steam Version of Fear2 and Steam Cloud enabled.
Steam Cloud has its own "PUF" encrypted and stored on Steam servers.
If you dissable steam cloud then you will be able to catch the saved data locally inside "user documents" folder.

| | The savegames are in my user documents folder. That isn't the problem. The issue is that it's saved in a different local folder depending on which steam account is in use. However, I am still currently looking for an offline launcher program so I don't have to use Steam...which might fix the LAN issue, I don't know. Do you have the name of a program?
