Looks like these licenses are pretty easy to setup, using a reg key location for the CD key just like COD4. However, unlike COD4 the profiles are stored online and not locally. The problem appears to be getting the users back to their created profiles since the profiles stick to the CD keys. With the SL license rotation they will not always get the same CD key. Still need more testing but I am hoping this is similar to the way BF2142 works. With BF2142 you could delete your profile when you filled up the available slots and retrieve the stats by recreating it again later.

Please let me know if anyone has other ideas or experience with this new COD title.

from the looks of things the users saved data  isnt actully stored online but in "C:\Documents and Settings\?YOUR PC?\Local Settings\Application Data\"

althought im pritty sure it works the same way as cod4 did with the profile linking to the cdkey .

I havent been able to test  license management + puf , but the puf file do work 100% .

i hope this helps

After further testing I have discovered that the profiles are indeed tied to the CD key. You cannot float user accounts between keys like you did with COD4. You can test this yourself by deleting your user profile directory and you will see that the user accounts are again retrieved once you login to the COD online profile system.

We simply use the REG key option in SL to push the keys to the machines. Your users will have to logout and log back in to rotate their CD key until they see their profile. Using a batch file you will also have to clear the profile directory on the client machine BEFORE starting up the game or you will cause profile corruption. Don't worry about deleting the profile directory, the game software will recreate the directory when it retrieves the user profiles from the online database.

I will be happy to elaborate for any of those that need it.

Hope this helps.

We haven't even bothered with online COD5 at guf, and I don't think we're going to. Customers having their online profiles for themselves was quite a big thing in our store, and for them to play COD5 online would be so much of a hassle for them to get onto the right accounts and what not... so we've limited the game to LAN + single player.

Maybe if the game was better, it might be worthwhile putting effort into. :/ Seems to crash all the time for me, on my home pc as well.

Ive been having some serrious problem getting cod:waw to work this is what i have found out so far .:

¬The data that saves the ranks in stored loacaly in :
"C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR PC\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\PROFILENAME" -you may need to set your folder options to view hidden folders and files

¬ the profile usernames that are created at the start of the game are stored online. there is a max of 5 usernames on each cdkey

¬the rank data is chained to the cdkey thus the game is much like cod4

¬the rank data and cd key can be moveed to another pc and work onlline keeping the rank data from before

¬the cd key is stored in :"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty WAW\codkey\" -------although i havnt been able to get my S/L to distribute cd keys at all !!! that is the reg location but my setting maybe wrong

¬YOU CAN PLAY ON LAN USING THE SAME CD KEY AS LONG AS PUNKBUSTER IS TURNED OFF !!!-

i hope this helps us

This Game is horrible...

the cd key is stored in :"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty WAW\codkey <- no dash at the end!

The keys have to be typed in in cpaital letters without the dashes, e.g. TH1S1SAK3Y

Had a long night to figure this out...

For userprofiles im going the straight way like cod4: not possible.

But cod5 is messing up if you have more than 5 users already stored in the user folder. To solve this i added the followig line to my userlogout.bat: (Watch out, its german you may have to change it)
rd /S /Q "%userprofile%\lokale einstellungen\anwendungsdaten\activision"
This will clear the directory.

When starting the game, the folders are restored from the users in the actual key. But not the stats.

The drawbacks:
no stats (my customer are used to it because of cod4)
when connecting the first time to a server the game returns an error and the user has to go to the select user screen again.
No saved games for single players. (im still working on this)

Howdy, I'm new to the forum so you'll have to excuse me if I've missed this elsewhere.

We've recently installed CoD:WaW on a number of our PCs and immediately found a serious issue. We're unsure as to whether it's related to Smartlaunch as such, but when running the PC with SL enabled the PC seizes up and we can only hardboot it to get past it. When running the game in admin, there's no problem whatsoever. I read through this thread and spotted the following:

Yes there is many reports of cod crashing after latest patch.

Has there been any more news on this or could there possibly be another reason for the crashing? I'm aware there have probably been several patches since 11/08 but thought it was worth asking. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
~Slug

P.S: We've also been experiencing this issue with Unreal Tournament 3.
P.P.S: I searched 'Call of duty world of war' and thought I was in the bug report section, my bad!

You probably didnt set the working directory thats why it did not work in Smartlaunch.
