I dont disagree Mikrotik is not for home users. We going to add a solution at some point in our forum so you can install the Mikrotik on any of your old junk pcs and make it do the same job of 5000$ cisco router

I have tried using a computer as a router.  There are already a lot of free linux versions so I am not sure why we need another one.  If you have server 2003 or 2008 you already have a computer router, just have to activate it.

There a few reasons I use the Edimax.  It is rack mountable, has no moving parts, very easy to setup with web based interface, very good support, and it will load balance up to 8 WAN lines.  All of this for a fraction of what a Cisco will cost.

Yes i have to agree that linux is not for everyone. Even mikrotik configuration is very advanced and not easy compared to other router devices such as edimax.

I have load balanced 6 x 1Mbs home lines and one business line in the past. All ADSL. The EDIMAX once you learn it it is an amazing gaming router. But you must learn it... it is not fully intuitive. The web interface requires some work as it was designed by non-English speakers who are very tech-absorbed. So as a result a non-techie would have a hard time learning in the beginning.

But OMG is it an amazing router.
