| sorry..... didn't mean for all CAPS but im just a little annoyed that i had to search forums from this and other sites and then finally tinker with it myself....
BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
UPDATE THE FILE FFS.... it installs with the latest SL client app....... AND its OUTDATED by like a YEAR.....
While i know others have already replaced it or done it with mod versions of the .exe or even just done batch PLEASE update the damn file.......
STEP BY STEP
Download latest BF2 FULL Patch..... Start to install but stop when you get to the welcome to the installation wizard...... go to RUN then %TEMP% go into the randomly generated BF2 Patch folder OR hit F3 and search for BF2CDKeyCheck.exe copy it to desktop.... open whatever you use to compile SL replace the outdated one....
DONE..... AKA PPL LIKE ME NOT BITCHING ANYMORE ABOUT BF2..... (still on BF2142....)
its 88K it cannot be that hard to replace inside of an installer....
KK THX hope this makes it into the next patch for the client installer.....

both BF2 and BF2142 now fully work!>!>!>
for BF2 once i replaced the above file (see above post) and put in each key with the dash's it worked fine...
with BF2142 i just did a custom lic profile pointed it to the registry entry and used the x9392 along with the dash's it also worked fine w00t
now comes the hard part..... CnC: The First Decade...... 7 different games and 7 different reg locations... blah....... then CnC3 which promises to be easier

KK THX hope this makes it into the next patch for the client installer.....What do you mean "open whatever you use to compile SL?" Compile Smartlaunch? I don't understand. Can you give me a "Smartlaunch" for dummies version of what you said above...forgive me, I'm just an artist. |

| what i meant by compile for SL is actually for the Smartlaunch company itself,
for users of the product simply go to the smartlaunch directory as follows:
C:\Program Files\Smartlaunch\Client\Data\Programs\Licensing
IN this folder you will see a file named: BF2CDKeyCheck.exe
Replace this file with the one in the %TEMP% directory when you open the patch (in order to get access to it you have to leave the patch open at the Welcome to installshield part of the patch)
Now put in you cd-key with dashs in the Lic Management portion of SmartLaunch and BOOM works.
