Hey, SL Team since I didn't see a Sticked Post on Forum Bugs, crashes, Errors I thought I'd go ahead and make one

That being said if its alright with the SL Team, this can be the official thread for bug and error report for the forum software
itself, and if it is ok they could sticky it. If not they can delete it and make a MORE official sounding error report thread..
That being said what to be included in the error report is the question i am asking the SL Team and anyone else..

These are a few things that might/should be included.
* The Exact date and time of the crash.
* A copy of the HTML error page as an attachment to their error report. Please O have noticed that HTML is not allowed as an attachment so Add the '.txt' extension to the end of file name so that it an be attachment.
* Screen Shots are also a Good Idea.

SL Team, its probably just a good idea just to take my post as an idea to create an official Error/bug(s) thread.

Board statistics

I've just noticed weird numbers in board statistics in the bottom of the forum home page:

2.369 members have posted 14.087 posts within 4.190 topics.

Hey peeps. I've been noticing that some times, threads get a + icon even thou the newest msg is moooonths old. Bit annoying. (I only use the same computer to read these forums btw)

And where is the mark all msgs as read button? :D Would be handy when the above occurs.

I'd say more than 1/2 of the topics are outdated and incorrect. I mean I had to search 3 different parts of the Forum just to get the fingerprint scanners working, and even after contacting support still couldn't get Vista scanners working.

It would be nice if the thread you are replying to could be listed under the "post reply box".

Many other forums use this (vBulletin)? It's hard to remember all the things you would want to reply to, so sometimes you must open a new windows just so you could read the thread/post again.

Think it's called "Topic Review" with (Newest First) or something like that.

Improved FAQ/Support section?

Hi, ive been going through the forums for a while now, and realise generally, the process for informing users of new bug fixes, functionality etc. has been to post a new topic on the forum. This may serve well to inform the current general user base, but for new users (new revenue?) and others who dont frequent these forums, there is some difficulty in finding what we need, as threads get lost and forgotten in the pool after a while. So new people like me will ask the same common question again, resulting SL admins having to answer them again...

Another thing that gets lost in this way is added functionality (eg. that new DLL thing that was recently posted in the General section)...ive come to realise that SL is capable of quite a bit more than is listed in the main page, and I have a feeling that im missing out on something...

A simple solution to this would be to update your FAQ/Support section with a table. One column states the common issues, while another column lists the link to a thread that addresses that issue in this forum. You can have 2 tables, one for issues, and one for new functionality. In this way, the learning curve of new users would be reduced, and they would be further impressed by the added stuff they can do while using SL, thus increasing the possibility of them actually purchasing your licence...

doesn't work as an avatar on this forum - it has a black background, and looks bad.

Mozilla Firefox also has issues on the with the Post page. Take a look at this screenshow of the top left corner of the window.

PC Locked Serial ... in the SL Store???

I see that in the online manual it says that I can purchase the "PC Locked Serial" from SL's Online Store. That item is seemingly not there. Am I missing something or is the item not yet available. Any help here is much appreciated.

My quality posts end up being edited cause I make em up on the fly
an re do em an re do em an so on.

Chat room

I think it will be pretty good if you will make a chat room where administrator can sit and discuss online their problems in the so hard job, cause sometimes it's too long to wait answer in the forum, or even sometimes you stuffed can't think about simple thing, and then if some solutions of problems found during on-line chat with people, just make a topic where somebody will post a solution to aproblem;)

if there is a irc channel already or smth else, can you please tell me:)

I am in OZ and obviously read these forums whilst u r mostly asleep or unable to read.
Anyway it seems to me that everytime I log in nearly all of the posts show new responses.
I have tried looking for them but cant seem to find them anywhere.
I use firefox browser and wonder does anyone else notice this .
I am starting to remember where I was up to (sad I know) but re-reading already read is ----

Can we get some American date format options in the forum preferences? We usually have the month come first like 10-14-2005 instead of 14-10-2005. I prefer a variation on MLA style dates, eg 14 Oct 2005 (Traditional MLA dates include a period after the month's abbreviation, eg 14 Oct. 2005.); all you have are European style dates.

Also, how about being able to select between 24 hour and 12 hour time formats?

Discussion of Hacks visible to licensed users ONLY

Hi Guys,

A few people mentioned in the old forum that a really intelligent idea would be to only have information regarding current hacks and exploits visible to licensed users of SmartLaunch.

As a new SmartLaunch user and new CyberCafe manager I believe this to be essential. It alarms me no-end to think that all a would-be-hacker has to do to find out half these exploits is to read your public forums as either a guest or a member.

Perhaps as exploits become known through the experiences of current licensed users of SmartLaunch, this information can be shared in a secure area with those that need to know ONLY. Once a fix has been created to plug the hole OR a workaround submitted a STATUS column could be filled in by you guys (the developers) which either links to the workaround info. or mentions the update number that fixes the exploit.

I'm trying to purchase the cash drawer (110 USD) and the thermal printer (320 USD) and I'm getting a subtotal of 1630.00 USD ... I've been out of school for a bit, but I don't think that's correct. The following is my cart ...

Cash Drawer -- 110.00

Thermal Printer -- 320.00

Cabling -- 0,00

Delivery -- 12,00

Subtotal -- 1630.00

So as long as it's not being flown to me in a charted jet and hand delivered by a celebrity ... I'm guessing that the delivery charge should be 12.00.

So I post something only to realize i posted it in the wrong area, I tried to delete it and it would ask me to renter my user info again, did that then tried to delete it and then tried editing it. It said that the administrator of the forums mostlikely disabled that function.

Release Notes topic!

It'd be nice if Michael could bump the topic everytime there's a release in the Release Notes topic, just so it doesn't get ignore when it's edited. A simple, "Update was released today" post would be nice to bump it up and bring it to our attentions, even though it's a pinned topic.

Logout button/link for Customer Area??

Not sure if I'm overlooking it somewhere or not but it sure would be nice if we could safely logout of the client/customer area.

Obviously there's a login form but no way that I can see to safely logout and keep other users of my computer from changing important information in the client area.

Expiring session variables aside, a button/link would be useful.

New forum database?

I see you guys have worked hard and nicely put up the whole new website, good work and it all looks good. Just a question though, is the old forum database wiped clean? I had a few references in private messages and also on the forums in different places that I used. It would've been nicer if we got a notice of this happening so we could retreive all info that we needed.

Congrats on the final release, you guys need a vacation and I say you take it.
